More on Sopek

Mathambo’s musical style is also abstract and dance inspired. His beats are mixes of western classics and innovative African sounds. For instance, his hit single Control is a remake of Joy Division‘s hit, She’s Lost Control.
Moreover, his first album entitled, “Mshini Wam” is derived from Umshini wami, (my Machine) also known as Awuleth’ Umshini Wami (Bring me my machine gun). It is a popular Zulu language “struggle song” used formerly by members of Umkhonto we Sizwe, the military wing of the African National Congress during the struggle against Apartheid in South Africa.

Yet, Mathambo transforms the meaning of “My Machine” into his way of expressing a new wave of African electronic music.
Recently Spoek Mathambo had a 2page article on the magazine Hype and has released a new album which is hitting the under ground market hard, he is the talk of the under ground world.

More on Kwai-Core Under Ground music

Korect Bo' Grey patch heads...

More good new for us weirdo's during a chat with my high school buddy, I told about my blog and she found this very interesting because she is into "under ground music" and she told me about "Spoek Mathambo" who is a recent musician, that is produce music similar to Kwai-Core and he recently realized a album of which I’ll be sure to upload some of his music. I have searched for his picture and the way he dresses says a lot about him and Yeboo he would be a ideal Kwai-Core musician.

Then on the other hand there is "Malume Koolkat" who also doe's something similar to "Spoek", we live and we learn grey heads. However the sad news is that I’ve been researching both musicians and have found very little information on Malume Koolkat, but if you google him on youtube you will find some of his music which is as good as finding information on him.

Please do watch out for more information on Spoek and do comment and follow my blog, for I can’t lead this blog alone, your precipitation is very important to me.

Aaaiy aaaiy Grey patchies.

Spoek Mathambo is Kwai-Core

Spoek is a new South African artist who is transforming the idea of African culture and the western perception of it. He is a culture shock artist, who utilizes the darkness and beauty of Africa to highlight his music. Not to mention, his sound is electronic, grimy and futuristic.
Mathambo stands aside the underrated Kenna, as well as the politically conscious M.I.A., with socio-political underlying messages to his music. He has been classified as “Afro-futurism“, defined as “an emergent literary and cultural aesthetic that combines elements of science fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, Afrocentricity, and magic realism with non-Western cosmologies in order to critique not only the present-day dilemmas of people of color, but also to revise, interrogate, and re-examine the historical events of the past” (wikipedia). Mathambo’s work presents all of these elements. With depictions of African neighborhoods, traditional fashion and jewelry, and chilling jump shots of oppressing clips and disturbing shots, he infuses his view of his culture in a way that most people do not acknowledge or understand.

Thee Kwai-Core attitude

Let’s speak attitude, let’s unpack both the attitudes of the musicians and the listeners of Kwai-Core music. The musicians would need a very open-minded attitude but that is very bold, stable and loud but most importantly they must have a very strong attitude.
They need a strong attitude so that when they perform on stage some people may “boo” them saying that the song sucks or the words are "wacky", however their strong attitude will be able to combat all of that because when you are a musician you must expect all kinds of comments about your music, and whatever comments those are you must be able to not take any offence look beyond that and perform anyways because just some us appreciate all genres of music.

The attitude of the musicians needs to be cheeky, and over confident at times with a little ego to top it off because nobody needs a singer that will hide behind the mike after every swear word they sing or after a very “touchy” sentence that the listeners may find offensive.
The attitude needs to be sincere though so that we as the listeners do not think that you are JUST singing for the sake of it, but see that there is some though and emotion behind your words, the musicians lead the listeners into their music an have a major control on how we let in your music accept it.

Kwai-core personality

The overall personality of Kwai-core is anger, but anger due to the issues that surround our society, this anger would be out of concern for the people in our society, and the children in our society who will live to experience the issues that surround us.

The songs will express this anger through the words of the song, Kwai-core will be controversial and be based on many issues whether seen by society as big or small, small issues would be issues such has homosexuality, emotional abuse, verbal abuse etc. These things can be seen as small or miner but may have an affect on people in the society, The anger then is not thrown at anyone but just put out there for the “abusers” in society to acknowledge that these issues affect people hopefully making a difference and providing a sort of “comfort zone" for the people going through similar issues.

Also promoting world peace, through the enjoyment of a new genre of music , some songs would be light hearted, sing-alongs that are easy to remember with a little dance with it, imagine that at a live concert, it’s possible grey patch heads but it all starts with one person with an idea.
